Athyrium pycnocarpon is easily grown in full to part shade with medium to wet soil where it will spread and colonize an area.. Commonly called Ostrich Fern, this deciduous fern may reach from 3-6′ in height. Clump forming and upright growing with finely dissected fronds.
Companulastrum americanum, commonly called Tall Bellflower, is best grown in rich, moist, well-drained soils in partial shade. Plants can be either annual or perennial but will persist in the garden through self-seeding. Between June and August, light blue flowers about 1” across form on a flower stalk that can reach 6’ in height. The flowers appear somewhat flat, in contrast to its common name Bellflower. Allow these plants to mass in moist, lightly shaded gardens. Tall Bellflowers attract many different species of pollinators, becoming a buzz of activity when in bloom.
