Description
Aromatic Aster, Symphyotrichum oblongifolium ‘October Skies’, is a showy, low-growing cultivar that forms a mound of brilliant color from late summer to fall, with its prolific, sky-blue to purple daisy-like flowers surrounding deep yellow centers. Growing 18 -24″ in height and 20 – 24″ wide, this aster’s fragrant blue-green foliage creates a stunning backdrop to the showy flowers. This plant thrives in full sun but tolerates a range of soils, whether sandy or clay, dry to medium moisture, well-drained soils. Deer and rabbit resistant, this is an exceptional wildflower for pollinators, with seed heads preferred by birds.
