Description
Lobelia cardinalis – commmon name, Cardinal Flower is easily grown in moist to wet soils but can be established in up-land sites as well. They will tolerate full sun to light afternoon shade with a blooming period of mid-summer to early fall. The brilliant red flowers are borne on erect terminal spikes rising to a height of 2-3′. The flowers are very attractive to hummingbirds and butterflies. They add late summer blooms and height to borders or water gardens.
