Description
Indian Grass, or Sorghastrum Nutans, is a large, clump-forming grass native to large parts of North America. Growing 3 to 5 feet tall, Indian Grass provides a beautiful accent to garden borders or works well massed in naturalized settings. Foliage is blue-green throughout the growing season, turning a lovely rust color in the fall. Tall, upright flower spikes are topped with large seed heads in late summer. Having low water requirements, Indian Grass makes a great addition to dry areas of the landscape and provides low-maintenance interest year round. Plant in borders and naturalized settings with other drought tolerant plants, such as Compass Plant and Gaura.
