Description
Echinacea purpurea, common name Purple Coneflower, is an adaptable plant which grows in average soil conditions with full sun to partial shade. Its purple-pink flowers may grow to 5″ across at a height of 3-4′. Blooms begin in late spring and continue through the summer. An excellent, long-blooming flower that looks great massed in a border or allowed to naturalize as they will readily self-seed. Leave some of the spent flower heads through the winter to attract and feed goldfinches. Plant with black-eyed susans and native grasses.
