Description
Russian Sage, Salvia yangii, ‘Little Spire’, is an attractive herbaceous perennial wildflower that has been naturalized from Central Asia. Rabbit, deer and drought tolerant, this robust, low-maintenance wildflower prefers dry to medium soil in full sun. This species, which is a woody-based perennial of the mint family, grows 1 – 2′ tall with fragrant, finely-dissected, grey-green foliage on stiff, upright, square stems. Brilliant whorls of 2-lipped, tubular, violet-blue flowers emerge through a long summer bloom. Silvery foliage also provides good winter interest.
