A dependable bloomer, Threadleaf Coreopsis, Coreopsis verticillata ‘Moonbeam’, has beaming, lemon-yellow flowers top erect, lacey, moundforming threadleaf foliage. The plentiful flowers bloom all summer and will continue to bloom by clipping dead blossoms. Requiring full sun to light shade, it is adaptable to many soil types, but does best in well-drained substrate. Open mounds growing 18″ in height and spreading by rhizomes up to 24″ wide, are revered for their hardiness and drought tolerance (this is an exceptional plant for poor, dry soils). Coreopsis species generally support over 40 different species of insects including some predatory insects which are essential for a garden strong ecosystem.
